Sue Fox Buroker, PER of Kenton Elks lodge 157, is Awarded Ohio Elk of the Year at Ohio Convention

At the Ohio Elks Convention over the weekend, Sue Fox Buroker PER received the Ohio Elk of the Year award for her outstanding service. This award is to honor her dedication to our community, the 157 Elks Lodge, and the entire State of Ohio.
Sue grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, where she attended school
at Salem school of Radiologic Technology’s, and in 1974 she started her work as
an x-ray technician at Northside Hospital in Youngstown. Eventually she made
her way to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Hardin County and that is when Sue transitioned
into doing one of her passions in life, music. She attended Ohio Northern
University in Ada majoring in Music Education. Then in 1996, Sue started as the
music teacher at Kenton High School where she was the Vocal Director for various
grades of school, assistant band director, and accompanist for many musicals until
her retirement in 2014. Sue married her husband and fellow Elk D Jack Buroker
PER in June of 1981.
Since Sue has joined the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, she has gone through all the officer chairs, been Exalted Ruler of the Kenton lodge, coordinates the Teen of the month and year awards and banquet, and is a volunteer who overseas the daily operations of the club. She is present and willing to help in any way possible to make events successful and to grow the Elks in Hardin County. Sue has been an active and prevalent voice in the Ohio Elks Association as well serving in committees and as the PER Chairman.
